The Mistress (Western Romantics #13)

Jessie Rose Case
4.26/5 (69 ratings)
This is a hot happily ever after, fictional, historical romantic western. Where a Native American Indian; a man of his age, finds love with an English-speaking rose.

Filled with some very tantalising hot sex and a strong dominant man. It’s a sweeping saga of one woman’s struggle to live and love in the American West of the 1890’s. It holds temptations and passions. Conflicts and torment dealing with the struggles of their time. Often dealing with harsh realities. And through it all, a story of hope in the most desperate of times. Love blossoms, to raise your own passions and bring them alive. If you’re looking for something to tempt your days and nights, you just found it. Enjoy!

Written mainly in British English, with American language and words and slang from both languages.

He was a wild man. A savage. And he was looking at her with hunger in his eyes.....

She'd always been a smart child her parents didn't understand. Normal folk, hard-working, her father a docker, her mother cleaned houses. Having some education but not much, they had no inclination for it. Unlike her.

Her teacher seeing it, encouraged her to take what books she wanted, to learn, spread her wings and as the years passed and the school not enough for her, to apply for the gifted children award and go to boarding school. It was a long way away. And win she did. A step on a different path. The first of many. Her old life left behind, the world of books becoming her solace.

Working hard, tutoring others, she found her place. There were little opportunities for women in the world. Men didn't like a female who could do what they could not and a good marriage and dowry was not possible. She would have to work. With such a thirst for knowledge, it led only one way. Teaching.

Her first post ending in disaster, coming out West had been a risk. She knew nothing of this life. The people strange and different in their ways. The town full of rough men and few women. Those in families looked on her with suspicion. Those in the saloons, as competition. It was a different world to the one she knew. But she had to make her own way now. There was no one else she could rely on. Her life what she made it.

But could she do it? She didn't know and felt lost. The words of men were lies......

****

Seeing the English riding out in the distance, he wasn't sure if she was stupid or brave. This country wasn't safe for anyone. And not for a woman alone.

Standing from his crouched position it was unlikely she’d see him. He should let them catch her, it aided his cause. He could use their attack of her as reason to take action himself. That would hold more water with the English than death and stealing of Nation food and animals. They were more likely to dismiss the killing of rapists and murderers as just. And distracted with her they'd be easy prey, retribution would come easy.
But the woman would be damaged.

Seeing her get down from her horse and idle, every instinct in him called out for her to move on quickly, remove herself from the danger heading her way as she took in the wildflowers before looking at the grasses and remounting. Marvelling at her stupidity and beauty. All those shiny golden hues in her hair mixed with the colour of red rock. So long it held a natural beauty all of its own as did the woman herself. Not long ago she would have made a fine prize. Her hair gracing any warriors lodge would have been much sort after. Challenges would have been made. Commanding a high value. If her captor would sell her.

Looking at her he deemed that unlikely. Any warrior who gained this woman would not let her go easily, would fight to keep her.
