When the universe throws him a curveball, Bevil Cyrex finds himself adrift in space on a ship determined to kill him. But then, in a stroke of luck, he stumbles across an ancient and abandoned space station called The Starlite.

Once he is on board the station, Bevil soon finds himself befriending a nanite swarm that takes on the appearance and mannerisms of his grandmother.
