There were two things that Remus Lupin knew for sure:
1. He was incredibly stupid for prowling around the back garden of the hidden townhouse that was Number 12 Grimmauld Place, searching for the “secret” door to the kitchen that his best friend had drawn directions to on a dirty napkin and shoved into his hands on the train back from Hogwarts.
2. He incredibly, insanely, undeniably, and stupidly fancied Sirius Black.
