বইয়ের মোড়ক উন্মোচন হওয়ার আগেরদিন সন্ধ্যায় নির্মমভাবে হত্যা করা হলো লেখক জাহিদ আলম প্রতিবাদকে। নৃশংসভাবে খুনের শিকার হলো বইয়ের প্রকাশকও। মেলা শুরুর আগেই নিষিদ্ধ ঘোষণা করা হলো প্রতিবাদের লেখা “নিঃশব্দে নিখোঁজ” বইটিকে। পুলিশ তদন্ত করতে গিয়ে খুঁজে পাচ্ছে না বইয়ের একটি কপিও। নিছক কিছু পথভ্রষ্ট জঙ্গিগোষ্ঠীর কাজ এসব? নাকি আড়ালে লুকিয়ে আছে নির্মম কিছু সত্য? কেন দেশ ছাড়তে বাধ্য করা হয়েছিল প্রতিবাদকে? কী এমন আছে তার লেখা এই বইয়ে, যা আলোর মুখ দেখলে দোর্দন্ড প্রতাপশালী মানুষেরাও পড়ে যাবে হুমকির মুখে? পদে পদে বাধার সম্মুখীন হওয়ার পরও স্পেশাল ব্রাঞ্চের ইন্সপেক্টর খায়রুল বাশার এর শেষ দেখে ছাড়বে বলে দৃঢ়প্রতিজ্ঞ। বাল্যবন্ধু ও এসআই ফরহাদ আহমেদকে সাথে নিয়ে নেমে পড়ল অসম এক লড়াইয়ে। অতীতকে তাড়া করে ফেরা এক দুর্ধর্ষ আখ্যান : নিঃশব্দে নিখোঁজ।

Synopsis:
Writer Zahid Alam Protibad is brutally murdered in the evening before the book launch. The publisher of the book is also brutally murdered. Before the start of the fair, the book "Nisshobde Nikhoj" is banned. The police cannot find a single copy of the book while investigating. Are these just the work of some misguided militant groups? Or is there something brutal hidden behind the truth? Why was the writer forced to leave the country? What is written in the book? Why even the most powerful people will fall under threat if the book sees the face of light? Despite facing hurdles, Special Branch Inspector Khairul Bashar is determined to see the end of it.
