There is a famous hadith by Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) in which he says:
Whoever among my nation memorizes forty hadiths that can help them with their religious needs, God the almighty will resurrect them on the Day of Judgment as a great and knowledgeable scholar.

Inspired by this hadith, many Muslim scholars have compiled collections of 40 hadiths throughout Islamic history. This book is an attempt to continue this beautiful Islamic tradition and provide you with 40 hadiths that can be easily applied in your daily life. In addition to the translation, each hadith comes with a practical example.

This book came out of a genuine desire to make the deep and practical content in the hadiths more accessible to everyone. We decided to go beyond presenting a simple translation for the hadiths and, instead, tried to make a link between the hadiths and our everyday lives with all their challenges. For every hadith in this collection, we share one practical way in which it could be implemented in our lives to help us with our spirituality, relationships, or another important aspect of our lives.

The title of the collection, “Revival of the Heart,” is inspired by a line from Nahj al-Balaghāh where Imam Ali (a) says:

أَحْيِ قَلْبَكَ بِالْمَوْعِظَةِ
Revive your heart through wise advice and teachings
