As a boy, James Roxburgh discovered a set of keys for a property in the Scottish Borders known as Wychwood House that once belonged to his family, a house long forgotten. Years later, he unexpectedly inherits the house and after restoring the property to its former glory, decides to live there. When his friends visit the house they find him a shadow of his former self, his frequent absences raising concerns for his welfare. Suspicions grow that something happened to the previous owners of the house, James’s great-uncle and his wife, and it’s not long before they learn of their fate, a fate that has implications not only for James but his friends too. The discovery of an ancient manuscript that links the past to the present leads them to realise that having entered the House in the Witches’ Wood, their lives will never be the same again.
