A narrative of a young sailors journey from boot camp to the Mekong Delta Vietnam and his tour aboard a WWII LST as part of TF 116 Brown Water Navy from 1967 to 1968 including the Tet offensive period. The second part of the book covers the return to Vietnam on a blue water Navy Destroyer deployed to the Tonkin Gulf in 1969. This is a personal account and not a documentary and it tries to convey both aspects of the U.S Navy participation in the Vietnam conflict, that of the Brown Water Riverine Force and the Tonkin Gulf Blue water Navy. The author also recounts his memories of daily life aboard these ships and details of his job as a Radioman.
