The Vanishing Lady: A Jessie Harper Paranormal Cozy Mystery

K.J. Cornwall
4.80/5 (4 ratings)
It’s the 1930s in Liverpool, England and the eccentric Lady Beatrice Blenkinsop has done the unthinkable—vanished from her own glamorous gala without so much as a farewell wave. Enter Jessie Harper, an unconventional sleuth with a sharp mind, and a mystical cat named Khan, who may or may not have all the answers (but refuses to share). Alongside her steadfast partner, George Jenkins—a WWI veteran with nerves of steel—Jessie dives into a mystery that’s equal parts baffling and bizarre.

As they navigate high society’s scandals and Liverpool’s eerie occult underbelly, they find themselves at odds with Inspector Grayson, who firmly believes this is all rich people nonsense. But when supernatural forces start making themselves at home, and Jessie accidentally opens a portal to something very unfriendly, things go from peculiar to downright apocalyptic.

With an ancient deity waking up grumpy, secrets refusing to stay buried, and reality itself on the verge of a meltdown, Jessie and George must face their fears, make a few uncomfortable sacrifices, and—most importantly—keep Khan from deciding they’re all doomed. Because when murder, magic, and mayhem collide, sometimes the only thing standing between order and chaos is a very determined detective… and a cat with attitude.

As with all the books in the series, this story can be read and enjoyed as a standalone book.
