Ambiguity, Absurdity, and Anti-Realism — An Adventure of Imagination
This is not sci-fi, but my surrealist story with science.
I was only a ten-year-old boy when the depletion of resources in my homeland, Yarden, led to civil unrest. While Conservists strove to preserve energy for the future, they were faced with opposition from Distributists who advocated for energy distribution for the poor. Seeing their struggle, I, a future scientist, began to seek the solution: the creation of infinite energy. It was then I learned about the hypothesis of the perpetual motion machine, a machine that could run nonstop without any loss of energy, a promise to stop all energy conflicts on Earth. I was ready for my new adventure toward the peace of mankind — inventing the so-called perpetual motion. Instead of knowledge, I was equipped with beating ambition under my sternum …

About the Author
Mingyuan Dong is a multimedia artist and a trilingual writer, communicating in English, Chinese, and French. She grew up writing short stories and poems. Prior to becoming a creative writer, she has produced French-English translation works and international art publications for the magazine Picture This Post. In addition, she has exhibited her artworks across the United States at Columbia Global Center, New Museum Los Gatos, GIFTS Art Expos, and Worth Ryder Gallery.
Born in 2000, Dong grew up in Beijing, China, and moved to California, USA at fourteen. She received her Bachelor of Arts as a triple-major in Fine Arts, Economics, and French Literature at the University of California, Berkeley.
