A: The economic recession of 2008 was a big influence in creating this short story. Many people around in the United States as well as the rest of the world felt the tragic effects of the shrinking economy. Millions of folks lost their jobs, homes, savings, and other material possessions. In Sandwich Shop Miracle, I wanted to show that without a strong foundation of steadfast faith, there would be little reason to hold on to a better tomorrow.

Q: What was the most important thing you wanted to convey with the main character Loretta Jenkins?

A: My main goal in creating Loretta was to make her relatable to the reader. As a writer and avid reader, few things are worse in a story than not being able to relate to the protagonist. Without feeling that emotional connection to the main character, the story just does not have that magical, immediate spark.

Q: Why create a story like Sandwich Shop Miracle now?

A: There is not a single person walking this earth who has not come to some sort of major crossroad in his or her life. It does not matter if it is financial, emotional, mental, or otherwise. What matters is what you do once you come to that “turning point. That kind of theme is timeless.
